History of the Medjugorje Rosary Beads

The history of the Medjugorje chaplet began in June of 1981 when two young girls were walking through the hamlet of Bijakovici in the parish of Medjugorje. A woman carrying an infant appeared before them high on a hill (now called Apparition Hill). They knew it was the Blessed Mother. The girls returned with four other children the next day hoping she would appear again. She did and this time she transported the dear children up the mountain to her. She introduced herself as the Queen of Peace and then prayed with the six children.

Since then, Our Lady has been seen frequently in Medjugorje. There have also been numerous conversions and occurrences of the inexplicable. This has made the story of Medjugorje one of the most fascinating in recent religious history.

The Medjugorje rosary is made up of 24 stone beads in celebration of Our Lady. Every single bead is made of stone from Apparition Hill and represents the miraculous vision of the Blessed Mother.
