What You're Getting
The Annunciation and Visitation Icon
This is a hand painted or written icon from Greece made with real 24K gold sheets on top. It is Grade A work. It is available in multiple sizes. The icon depicts two significant Marian mysteries: the Annunciation of the Angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary, and the Visitation of Mary to her cousin Elizabeth.
The Annunciation and the Visitation
The Annunciation is the moment the Angel Gabriel appeared to the Virgin Mary to announce that she would conceive and bear the Son of God. The Visitation is Mary's journey to visit her cousin Elizabeth, who was pregnant with John the Baptist. For the Crucifixion gold sheet icon browse the Crucifixion Cross Icon With Gold Sheets.
Written in Greece With Real 24K Gold (Multiple Sizes)
In the Orthodox tradition icons are said to be written rather than painted, reflecting their role as visual theology. This icon uses real 24K gold sheets, a technique used for centuries to represent the uncreated light of God. For other icons browse our icons collection.
